1MW is power consumed by over 10,000 households, na unataka kufanya biashara kama io bila license?

You need 10's of millions to set up a 1MW power plant, not something you can do with a backup generator

In most buildings in the city center, you have 2 generators, each roughly 600-800kva. That translates to over 1MW.
And am talking of a medium -sized building like Anniversary Towers of I&M Bank Towers, not KICC or the new skycrappers that have recently come up.

PS: Your figure of 10000 households is ridiculously high.
A house has like 5KVA, meaning it's only 200 households.

Those generators will consume fuel worth nearly 20k per hour, can only be used for emergency purposes.

You want to run a business consuming diesel worth ksh. 500,000 per day without a license?

Who runs an emergency generator for 24hrs?
And a little correction. A well tuned 500kva diesel generator uses approx 100lts every hour. That would be 200lts for 1000kva every hour. Now calculate the cost.

And this raises an interesting observation. If you are an IPP running such a plant, the fuel cost component of your electricity would be over 30 shillings. Of you factor in the other costs like depreciation, manpower, licences, etc, this would come to over 100bob per unit.

Although IPPs use either gas or heavy fuel oil, so cut that by half.

Basically mnasema sasa multinational IPP's waache kulipa ushuru, wafanye vitu zao bila ata kuchukua license.
Mtu wa nduthi anafaa kuwa na licence lakini wa multimillion shilling business hafai kuwa na license na hafai kulipa ushuru.

Shopkeepers wa kawaida turkana wanalipia licence kufanya biashara zao? Kwa nini multinational IPP's wasilipe? Kama unafanya biashara kwa nini hutaki kufuata sheria?

Stop misquoting me. Anyone offering it for sale should and must pay.

My problem is when I produce for my own internal consumption, be it in my business, residence or premises. There's no justification for paying.

Shall we also say that if you grow kitunguu for use in your household, then you get a license for the same?

EPRA is only concerned by those producing 1MW and above, not people producing power for domestic consumption

Unfortunately thats the reality. They get free land (EPZ), cheap labour and tax holidays.
