Munene,cess has been paid at the source as per agreement. Why is cess being demanded a second time at the landing. Or is it me who does not understand.

Nairobi county also needs to make some money. Just like you pay tax for mtumba vehicles even though the Japanese seller paid tax kwa vehicle auction huko Tokyo.

Japan and kenya are different tax jurisdictions. So your subaru is charged tax in Japan and in kenya. Garissa and Nairobi are also different tax jurisdictions kwa mambo ya cess. Beef cattle are charged cess hapo garissa livestock market and also when they land pale Njiru slaughterhouse. Tax must be paid when goods move from one jurisdiction to another. Irregardless of whether the goods are subarus, cattle or pigs.

A matatu from muranga can't refuse to pay parking fees and other charges in Nairobi eti because they paid the charges in muranga. A KQ plane landing at JKIA can't refuse to pay landing charges eti because eti it paid the same.in Mombasa.

I thought you were brighter than this. If someone from Goma DRC imports goods from China, tax is paid at the source in China and in the destination in goma DRC. You don't pay tax when the cargo transits via vietnam, indonesia ocean territory, singapore, kenya, Uganda, Rwanda etc. The exporter sorts tax issues in China and importer sorts tax issues in goma.

The law says that when companies conglomerate/join each other they can apply for.the transaction to be exempt from tax charges. The thinking behind this is that you are creating a larger more efficient entity and no company should be punished when it grows and becomes more efficient.

Blame chinaman for bringing corona and shutting down the global economy. It will take years for the world to recover.

Also the govt is required to build airports, roads, rails, ports to ensure efficient movement of goods and services. So don't blame.uhuru for doing his.job. We know you truckers thrive when there are chaos and inefficiency in the transport sector. But you should look at the bigger picture. The economy and country benefits more when containers are evacuated by SGR coz they get to the destination faster and safely, less accidents, company doesn't have to pay for truck maintenance, your lodging and malaya, less deaths from accidents and HIV. Uhuru amechapa kasi bwana.

Also less smoke belching trucks.on the road means less carbon emissions which is good for the.planet and also less cancer incidence for citizens.
Did I mention that most of those trucks are.imported with 800,000+km mileage and therefore a drain on the economy to maintain that junk and a disaster to the environment and health due to emissions.
