Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has been the topic of discussion after he held a press brief inviting Post Election Violence victims to record statements 13 years after it occurred.

In a statement, DCI boss now says he will not open cases that were investigated and closed before yesterday but rather investigate on new cases reported by victims who couldn’t report their cases after 2007/8 PEV.

Deputy President William Ruto who wa a facing the charges at the ICC and was acquired following inadequate evidence now says in a tweet:

“The provocative INCITEMENT to ethnic hate/division INTENDED by the ressurection of PEV is an EVIL attempt to resuscitate the TRIBE project DESTROYED by the HUSTLER movements' REALISATION that poverty&unemployment DELIBERATELY bred by poor leadership is our PROBLEM NOT our tribes.”



DCI boss has now clarified his press briefing statement saying they have received several complaints from citizens which include their life threats that’s why they have called on PEV victims to record statements. The exercise is voluntary.

The irony in this statement! Are you also aware that the attacks in Limuru, Naivasha and Nakuru happened exactly two weeks after the first attack happened and during which defenceless Kikuyus were being arrowed and burnt out of their homes and businesses?
I won't even comment on your calling certain people Mungiki without a shred of evidence that they were Mungiki but you had to dehumanise/criminalize them coz the others who were wielding arrows were angels.

I think he is talking about uhunyes involvement in the horrors has been conveniently been forgotten

My friend the reason I get worked up is when people try to revise history to blame the victims. After the elections violence targeting the kikuyu happened in Nyanza, western, Rift Valley and coast. It went on for two weeks with the victims hopeful that the government would do enough to protect them. It didn't partly because it was either unprepared or it underestimated the viciousness and scale of the attacks.
It was only after close to two weeks that the unprepared Kikuyu community was able to organize and start defending themselves.
Revisionists like to call those who defended themselves Mungiki which is a criminal gang. This is part of dehumanizing a victim community and blaming the victims for what happened. Why don't we have criminal names for the Kimnyigei age group youth who were mobilized to burn and shoot with arrows?

So Mungiki was not involved in any way, shape or form?

Attacking the innocent and defenseless is never defending oneself. Just like those who set a church full of human beings on fire, they're all pathetic excuses of human beings!
