I think mrembo @Eye Candy can choose what she wants. All we can do is point her in the right direction. There is value in learning to do something by hand. There is also value in utilizing machines. The balance between those two is increasingly shifting towards power tools.

Advice yako sio mbaya but you must consider the learner's stage and background. For someone who is totally new in a field, the fastest way to give up is to walk without guidance. Even the best equipped learners need some guidance to take off.

Mtu anawiza watch mavideo za capentry theory and practicals na advice on hand and powertools....alafu a buy tools na materials and go on from there bila kusumbua watu.

My friend, it would take you decades to learn to ride a bike from watching videos, something you can do in two days with some guidance. You cannot smoothly cut a piece of wood even after watching 1000 videos. There is some skill to it.
